Welcome to Sara's YMCA
Opened in 2016, Sara’s YMCA serves the business community in Ballantyne by providing top-notch facilities staffed by industry leading professionals. The branch is named for Sara Harris Bissell, a long-time community leader, whose bright spirit and passion for serving others, lives on through the positive energy and activity that happens at the Y.
Sara's YMCA is an adult only branch, and welcome members 16 years of age and older. Check out the Sarah's YMCA class schedule for for classes near you!
Happy Thanksgiving from our YMCA family to yours! 🦃🍂
We’re grateful for the community we’ve built together, where kindness and support thrive. As we gather with loved ones, let’s remember to share our blessings and lend a helping hand to those in need.
Wishing you all a day filled with gratitude, joy, and togetherness!
Feel the heat, embrace the flow, and leave stronger than ever. 🧘🔥
Hot yoga is more than a workout - it’s a chance to detox, stretch deeper, and find your inner calm. Don’t know where to start? Check out Alexis’ Wednesday night classes. One of members recently said, “My husband and I LOVE Alexis Rosamilia! Amazing instructor and love her flows!”
If hot yoga isn’t for you, we also offer warm yoga as well as traditional yoga classes without added heat. There’s something for everyone, come get your zen!

Thank you to Michele Schmidt, RYT, for her Wellness Wednesday presentation yesterday! 👏
Michele’s presentation focused on fall prevention, including getting one’s balance checked and simple exercises to improve balance, strength, and flexibility. It was an informative session, and we look forward to continuing Wellness Wednesdays in the new year!

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’d like to lift up Sarah Jeffs, one of our incredible staff members who has inspired us this year during her battle with breast cancer! 👏
On April 19th, Sarah received the diagnosis no one wants. She had her annual mammogram a few weeks earlier, which promptly required further screening with a biopsy. Following the biopsy, her worst fears came true when her doctor informed her it was breast cancer. Given her family history of cancer, the best way to manage her diagnosis was a bilateral mastectomy and lymph node removal in May.
By August, she was back to work at Sara's YMCA as both a Personal Trainer and the Lead Instructor for LiveSTRONG, our cancer wellness program. Having now gone through her own journey with cancer, she has a new appreciation for all of our LiveSTRONG participants! Sarah says battling breast cancer is one of the toughest challenges she has ever had. She is forever grateful to her family and friends who kept her going when she didn't think she could any longer, as well as her phenomenal colleagues at Sara's who sent cards, texts, and gift cards during her treatment and recovery.
Sarah is advocating more than ever for regular breast cancer screening, as her cancer would have spread rapidly if it had not been detected in the early stages. Early detection methods include monthly breast self-exams, as well as regular clinical breast exams and mammograms. In the United States, a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer sometime in her life is 1 in 8. The 5-year relative survival rate when diagnosed at the localized stage, before cancer spreads outside of the breast, is 99%. Knowledge and early detection can save lives!
