At the Y, we believe that when people come together for a common cause, the whole community is strengthened. ACCESS. OPPORTUNITY. EMPOWERING TEENS TO THRIVE. Our teen programs are at the heart of what we do at the Stratford Richardson YMCA. Helping local teens learn and thrive for the future is what we aim to do. Volunteers play an important role in helping us do this with our teens and we are looking for help in mentoring our teens of today into the leaders of tomorrow.

Stratford Richardson YMCA - Afterschool

Volunteers in our Afterschool program will be helping with our Queen City Readers program. Queen City Readers is a program that is designed to help Kindergarten and First Grade students learn important skills that will help them become strong readers. In just one hour a week, tutors can serve two students. The only requirements to become a tutor are: Proficiency in English (speaking and reading) A high school education A positive and encouraging attitude 15 minutes of pre-recorded video training & a 30 Minute Child Abuse Prevention training online
