YMCA of Greater Charlotte has announced Omoiye O. Kinney is the organization’s new senior vice president of marketing and technology. The newly created position reflects the Y’s revised organizational structure aimed at better serving members through more personalized experiences.

In her new role, Kinney will provide leadership, vision and direction to marketing, information technology, consumer insights and analytics, along with developing and executing digital product strategies including the Virtual Y. She will focus on aligning marketing strategies with business goals, ensure a solid IT infrastructure, work closely with technology providers and launch new digital products.

“Our Y has been tremendously impacted by the pandemic, with more than half of our members cancelling or freezing, and a revenue loss of nearly $40 million,” said Cesar Silva, executive vice president and chief administrative officer for YMCA of Greater Charlotte. “By more closely aligning our marketing and technology teams, we believe that the synergies created will help us to meet members where they are through expanded digital offerings, bring members back to our facilities and programming, and ultimately work on building our Y back to the strong financial position it was in prior to the pandemic.”

Kinney comes to Charlotte with significant YMCA experience, having previously worked in marketing and communications roles for the YMCA associations in both Houston and Philadelphia, as well as YMCA of the USA, the national office based in Chicago. She most recently worked for the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services.

“I’m excited to join the Charlotte Y team as they begin one of the most critical times in the organization’s history,” said Kinney. “I’m encouraged by how I’ve seen this Y perform and serve over the past year, and can’t wait to see how we can amplify those efforts.”

A Philadelphia native, Kinney received her bachelor’s degree from Temple University and her master’s degree from Springfield College.
