A Home Run for Our Community

Ever watched a child play baseball? Then you've seen it. It's the look of pure joy that comes from a good time and the good feeling of belonging to a team. But too often, children with physical and cognitive disabilities never get the chance to step up to the plate.

Every day, the Y supports kids, adults and families who need us most with programs that protect, teach, connect, heal, nourish and encourage. It’s how we empower communities and the “us” who live in them to realize their incredible possibilities and full potential.

Therefore, in 2011, The YMCA of Greater Charlotte and Miracle League teamed up to give children with special needs a chance to play baseball by creating the YMCA Miracle League through a generous financial contribution. We place children on a team of between 10 and 12 baseball players for games that last approximately one hour.

The YMCA of Greater Charlotte's Miracle League Field is located at the Keith Family YMCA. This custom-designed baseball complex hosts Charlotte's first completely wheelchair accessible surface that allows children of all abilities to take the field.

We offer a number of opportunities to partner and volunteer with the Keith Family YMCA Miracle League.
