The mission of the Bethlehem Center of Charlotte is to provide educational opportunities for low income children and families to improve the quality of their lives.
Our Partnership with Bethlehem Center of Charlotte
Their vision as a faith-based organization is to partner with the community to educate, transform, and inspire fulfilled lives by embodying the love of Jesus Christ. Founded by the United Methodist Women in 1940, the Bethlehem Center started in the Brooklyn community to address the needs of inner city women and children whose income was at or below the poverty level. In 1956, after urban renewal, Bethlehem Center was relocated to serve neighborhoods of Southside, Brookhill and Wilmore, where we provided one of Charlotte's first free kindergarten programs, activities for school age children and other quality family enrichment services. Thanks to a grant from PNC Bank, Parents as Teachers serves families currently on the waiting list for Head Start.
